£192,000 Awarded to QUAD Education Team's School in Residence Programme!

QUAD has been successful in receiving a large grant to support the continuation and development of our School in Residence programme. Paul Hamlyn Foundation continues to support QUAD to deliver the programme (having previously awarded us the Explore & Test grant from 2018-2020), awarding the Education team £192,500 from the Arts Based Learning Fund, which enables pupils in formal education settings, particularly those experiencing systemic inequality or disadvantage, to thrive through engagement with high quality, arts-based learning.

Education Curator Daisy Lloyd developed the partnership bid with staff from Pear Tree Community Junior School, St Martins School and Horizons 6th Form and Derby Moor Academy. Building on previous learning, the partnership will continue to explore methods to embed creative and cultural enrichment into the curriculum, and further explore ways to achieve sustainable learning and impact at schools and QUAD.

Education Curator Daisy Lloyd, who leads on the programme, commented “This is a very large and significant grant for QUAD’s education programme, enabling us to remove barriers to schools accessing high quality creative enrichment on a regular basis. It has been planned and developed in partnership with school staff to create bespoke learning arrangements, that sit within the curriculum. We are so excited to be able to re-start the School in Residence programme, which has been hugely successful in recent years, and we are particularly excited to be developing opportunities with QUAD’s exhibiting artists, and exploring innovative approaches to CPD for schools. This incredible grant from Paul Hamlyn Foundation will enable us to deliver the programme for three years, and create a new post to support its delivery.”

Joe Johnson, Teacher at Horizons 6th Form commented 'We have worked previously with QUAD and the projects have always been fantastic collaborations with amazing outcomes for students around creativity, independence and confidence building. This new programme is exceptionally exciting, we are looking at a series of different art forms over a 3 year period that will help our students explore topics around their futures from an artistic perspective, this style of learning is really important in meeting our students needs and ensuring meaningful engagement.

The staff at QUAD have always been excellent in delivering workshops in a creative way so we are looking forward to starting in September and helping our students in building successful futures.'

Creative workshops will commence in September, both in school and at QUAD, with projects being developed that will produce outcomes for exhibitions, including FORMAT International Photography Festival in Spring 2023. The funding period is 2022 - 2025.
